"Lawlessness" (c) 2010 by Jim Yackel

Life in America will be not be so much "life" as it will be about mere survival as the Storm builds toward its climax over the next few months. Unreasonable citizens and interlopers alike will do what they need to do to survive; and those desperate acts will endanger the safety and security of the reasonable and the genteel.

Those who have prepared now will not have to rely as much on grocery and discount stores that may be closed or if open may have little to offer in the way of salable goods. But what about those who mock and scoff now but panic later?

Our lives are going to be in danger as this multi-faceted and highly-dynamic events grows in size and scope. Certainly, the weather and the shaking will compromise our very safety. The potential for war within the U.S. borders - both civil and through military means - will place our very existences in peril. Chemical, biological, and even nuclear terror looms as a dark shadow outside of this periphery of this writer as he attempts to see the big picture. Martial Law is indeed a likelihood. The Arrogant Marionette and his boot-licking lackeys are villainous now and will stand tantamount to an evil empire as the winds whip, the Thundersnow falls, and the dams are no longer able to contain the water pressure.

But what about John Q. Public; is he a danger? The answer to that question is "yes."

Today's deteriorating and unprepared American society will panic after the stores have closed and the lights have been down for weeks. They will riot and loot. They will rape, pillage, and plunder. Some will kill for a loaf of bread. Others will kill you for the bottle of whiskey stored in your den's liquor cabinet. Still others would take your life in order to steal the prescription drugs from your bathroom medicine cabinet. Loving yet anxiety-stricken parents who laughed and scoffed today will do what they need to do during the worst of the Storm to feed their crying, hungry, and terrified children. Yes, some of today's laughers and scoffers will likely be tomorrow's cold-blooded killers when desperation overtakes the souls that Jesus was told by these very individuals not to fill.

No, they will not cede today to Christ's easy yoke and light burden; and yet tomorrow they will fully succumb to primal urges in order to eat and even to satisfy addictions. So many minds that have been willingly corrupted in these current spiritually-lawless days will snap when the Storm's low barometric pressure becomes an unbearable weight on their backs and within their souls.

Please, may we pray?

Dear Lord - You have seen how society and culture continues to rot the moral fiber of a nation and cause a cancer-like disease to spread through minds and souls that have not made a place for you. And yet, You love them so much that You will never force Yourself on them. You have given them freedom of choice and it makes You weep when they choose death over Your gift of eternal life. You have asked us to walk in Your ways to represent to those who reject You the very power of love and life that You are. You are the only life, Jesus. You are the only way and the ultimate truth of all truths.

Lord, we ask You for Your divine hand of protection to be on us as conditions deteriorate in the intensifying Storm. So many are blinded and fooled by sunny days and in that they lack the spiritual and mental fortitude to see that the clouds on the horizon are gathering and moving quickly. They have so easily given themselves over to Satan's control. Please Lord, pull at least some of them free from his manacles before it is too late. Please Lord, remove the scales from at least some of their eyes.

We are in danger from powers and principalities and in some cases our own friends and neighbors. As the desperation seeps and spreads like leaking oil, we ask You Lord Jesus to please keep up safe and to likewise let us represent You in bold and loving witness no matter what danger we may find ourselves in. Lord, I love You. You died for me, and I would without a second thought die to represent You and Your loving kindness.

Jesus - in your most glorious name we pray, amen.
